5 Reasons Why Servicing Your Bike is Important
  1. Safety: A well-maintained bike is safer AND more enjoyable to ride. Regular servicing ensures that all components, such as brakes, gears, tires, and suspension, are functioning properly, reducing the risk of accidents and/or failures while riding our local streets and trails.
  2. Performance: A bike that is serviced regularly performs way better! Components like the drivetrain (chain, cassette, and derailleurs) can become dirty or worn over time, leading to decreased performance and efficiency. By servicing your bike, you can keep these parts clean and properly lubricated, resulting in smoother shifting and better overall performance.  Making it easier to achieve your personal best on Strava!

  3. Longevity: Just like any mechanical device, a bike will last longer if it is maintained. Regular servicing helps identify and address any potential issues before they become major problems. This can extend the lifespan of your bike and save you money in the long run by avoiding costly repairs or premature replacements.

  4. Warranty requirements: If your bike is still under warranty, it may require regular servicing to maintain the warranty service requirements.  Do check the terms and conditions of your bike's warranty to see if there are any specific service intervals or requirements, and bring it in to The Lift!

  5. Resale Value:  If you plan to sell or trade in your bike in the future, having a well-documented service history can increase its value. Prospective buyers are more likely to be interested in a bike that has been regularly serviced and well-maintained.

It's generally recommended to have your bike serviced at least once a year or every 3,000-5,000 kilometers, depending on your usage and riding conditions. However, if you notice any unusual noises, or performance issues, or if it's been a while since your last service, it's a good idea to have your bike checked by a professional mechanic as soon as possible.
